Welcome to my website. I am a highly experienced, qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor and have been working in private practice just outside Bath for over 7 years. I am an Accredited Registrant Member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society.

I work with individual adults in short and long term therapy. Sessions take place online during weekdays and in person on Thursdays at my practice room near Bath.

My counselling approach is integrative, blending various therapeutic methods to best suit the individual needs and goals of my clients.

At the heart of my approach lies the belief in a person-centered therapeutic relationship built on trust and respect. I seek to provide a warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental space where clients can feel safe to openly explore what is important to them.

I also combine elements of CBT, Psychodynamics, Somatic Focussing,  Mindfulness, Relaxation techniques and Breathwork depending on the needs of my client. These approaches offer opportunities to:

  • Experience gentle, guided techniques to create inner calm and grounding.

  • Gently explore emotional experience with kindness and compassion.

  • Identify unhelpful thoughts and behaviours.

  • Consider the origins of repeating patterns to acknowledge and challenge the beliefs that no longer serve us.

  • Allow the body to release emotional trauma and guide you towards healing.

  • Increase confidence, self esteem and self worth.

  • Cultivate self-compassion and self-acceptance.

Understanding how our brains function and how our bodies respond to stress and anxiety can be incredibly illuminating. The powerful breath can help us to deactivate the nervous system stress response, taking us out of the primal instinct of ‘fight or flight’ mode, gaining present awareness of our experience. From this calmer, more connected place we are able to be guided to somatically tune into our bodies, recognise and release energies whilst cultivating compassion and acceptance of our emotions and ultimately of ourselves.

Regardless of the techniques or theories we use, the ultimate goal of counselling is to facilitate change. Together, we will explore what this change means for you, and I'll be there to support you throughout your journey towards emotional healing, personal growth and transformation.

Counselling becomes necessary for various reasons. Sometimes, we reach a breaking point after dealing with a challenging situation or suppressing our emotions for an extended period. Other times, a specific event, such as a loss, the end of a relationship, or a significant change in life circumstances, can overwhelm us or re-trigger us in some way.

It's common to find ourselves stuck in repetitive patterns that don't serve us well. We might feel powerless and incapable of managing our lives effectively. Stress, anxiety, depression, or low self-esteem can also hinder us from living the way we truly desire. And sometimes, we struggle to understand why we are feeling a certain way or to articulate what's troubling us.

During such times, sharing your struggles with a counsellor, can be a very helpful way to move forward. I am here to create a safe, confidential space where you can freely explore your experiences without fear of judgment. I will support you to nurture your emotional wellbeing on your journey towards compassionate self acceptance.
